Biographical Intake
Your first consultation is an opportunity to cultivate a layer of trust that is the root of a healthy patient-practitioner relationship. It is an opportunity for me to listen to the manner in which you convey the key aspects of your biography - the patterns, themes, and influential experiences that have shaped the image and narrative of yourself, all of which influences health and your health goals in the present moment. You can be as detailed and brief as you are comfortable with.
Pulse Diagnosis
Following the outline of your biography we will proceed with an in-depth pulse diagnosis. This is an opportunity for me to listen to what your body is conveying directly. Chinese pulse diagnosis is an expansive diagnostic art form that can render a comprehensive image of the internal landscape, from the material and energetic states of the organs to the emotional and psychological states of mind that influence the function of our organ systems. Following our biographical intake and pulse diagnosis we may move to the table for palpation and physical assessment.
Discussion, Engagement with your Herbal Remedy
We will culminate the consultation by discussing the preliminary findings and how we want to proceed with care. We will craft an herbal formula using classical Chinese herbal theory and add modifications to more closely aim the remedy towards your specific health goals. Remedies can be crafted to illicit a swift impulse, suitable for short-term/acute conditions, or for an incremental and alchemical effect which is suitable for long-term chronic conditions or general and preventative maintenance. Creams, poultices, herbal soaks and supplements may also be offered. Depending on your interest and the time available to , we may discuss the formula, its constituents and its aims.
Herbal remedies can be administered either in granule form (dissolved in warm water), in patent/pill form, or for those who want to engage more deeply with their remedy, with bulk herbs that require preparation via boiling and decocting. It may be (and often is) necessary to make subtle modifications to your remedy as you progress towards your health goals.
